Connect Activity
Connect activities get students ready to learn. Choose one or two of the activities below to introduce this week’s lesson.
Becoming Introduction
(3–5 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will read a short introduction to the Becoming series.
For All Students: Changed By Christ
(8–12 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will read a narrative about Phil Robertson (Duck Dynasty) or Brian “Head” Welch.
Becoming DVD Option: How Can I Improve Today?
(5 minutes, Becoming DVD required)
Students will watch a video clip about a young girl questioning her identity.
Younger Student Option: Defining Identity
(10 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will consider what about them makes up their identity.
Older Student Option: Who Am I?
(10 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will fill out a questionnaire to discover what makes them unique.
Explore Activity
Explore activities lead students to study Scripture. Teach the Key Study to focus on the Biblical Truth. If you choose, support the Key Study with one or two of the following activities.
The Interactive Key Study: A Defining Moment
(15–20 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will study Acts 9:1–16 to understand how Paul’s encounter with Christ radically changed his identity.
The Master Teacher Key Study: A Change in Identity
(15–20 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will study Acts 9:1–16 to understand the change an encounter with Christ makes in an individual’s life.
Younger Student Option: Flashlight Scripture Search
(10–15 minutes, moderate set-up)
Students will use flashlights to search for various Scripture references.
Older Student Option: Hello, My Name Is _____.
(10 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will dig deeper into the differences between Saul the Pharisee and Paul the Apostle.
Transform Activity
Choose one or two Transform activities to challenge students to live differently. Keep in mind that the Holy Spirit ultimately brings about change, so help students draw near to Him.
Younger Student Option: My Spiritual Identity
(5–10 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will consider what makes up their spiritual identity.
Older Student Option: Spiritual Passport
(5-10 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will examine the characteristics that define their spiritual identity.
Creative Prayer
(5 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will use the concept of a mirror to examine their identity.
