Connect activities get learners ready to learn. Choose one or two of the activities below to introduce this week's lesson.
Fun: Easter Symbols
(5-8 minutes, easy setup)
Learners will identify the significance of the symbols of Easter.
Provide a sheet of paper and a pen for each group. Also, provide a dry erase board and marker.
Discussion: “Religious Holiday”
(5-8 minutes, easy setup)
Learners will discuss research on the American perception of Easter.

Life and Times: Easter Facts

Learners will consider how Americans celebrate Easter.

Relational: Easter Celebration

Learners will discuss the traditions they have for celebrating Easter.

Explore
Explore activities lead learners to study Scripture. Teach the Key Study to focus on the Biblical Truth. If you choose, support the Key Study with one or two of the following activities.
Interactive Core Study: He Is Not Here
(15–20 minutes, easy setup)
Learners will study Luke 24:1-12, 36-49 to examine the evidence that Jesus was no longer in the tomb, but was alive.
Provide a copy of the Learner Worksheet and a pen for each learner. Also provide a dry erase board and marker.
Master Teacher Core Study: He Is Not Here
(15–20 minutes, easy setup)
Learners will study Luke 24:1-12, 36-49 to examine the evidence that Jesus was no longer in the tomb, but lived.
Print one copy of the Master Teacher Outline for your own use. Provide copies of the Learner Worksheet and pens for learners.
Context Study: Burial In The Time Of Christ

Learners will discuss Jewish burial customs in the time of Christ.
Closer Look: Crucifixion

Learners will discuss the act of crucifixion.

Comparative Study: Luke vs. John

Learners will discuss the differences in the Resurrection accounts recorded in Luke and John.
Transform
Choose one or two Transform activities to challenge learners to live differently. Keep in mind that the Holy Spirit ultimately brings about change, so help students draw near to Him.
Discoverers: The Lord is Risen
(5–8 minutes, easy setup)
Learners will evaluate when and how they have personally responded to the risen Lord.
Provide index cards and pens. Provide a dry erase board and marker.
Owners: The Battle Won
(5–8 minutes, easy setup)
Learners will examine a hymn stanza to identify what Christ’s resurrection teaches us about who He is and what He did for us.
Provide a dry erase board and marker, and paper and pens for four groups. Provide index cards and pens for learners.
Servants: Where Christ Has Led
(5–8 minutes, easy setup)
Learners will identify how they personally prepare to worship the risen Christ at Easter.
Provide a dry erase board and marker. Provide a copy of the Responding to the Risen Lord activity sheet and a pen to each learner.
Shepherds: Death’s Sting

Learners will identify how Christ’s resurrection can take away their own fear of death and dying.
Provide a dry erase board and marker. Provide paper and pens.
Take Home Activity
The Take Home Activity gives families the opportunity to study the biblical passage together and discuss how each member of the family might apply the truths from the lesson to his or her life.
Family Devotion
(10-15 minutes at home, easy set-up)
Distribute copies of the Family Devotion to students and encourage them to share the devotion with their family.
