Learners will discuss the traditions they have for celebrating Easter.
Provide a dry erase board and a marker.
Divide learners into groups of three. Write the following prompts on the board:
Encourage groups to use the prompts written on the board to guide their discussion. After three or four minutes, call time and encourage two or three learners to briefly share their experiences with the entire class. Then, share that Easter is the celebration of the extreme act of love demonstrated in Jesus’ death on the cross. State that Jesus’ resurrection not only showed proof of His deity, His resurrection was evidence that Jesus conquered sin and death. Conclude that in today’s lesson, learners will examine the account of the first witnesses of the risen Lord.
