Judges 6:15–16
God chose Gideon, an insecure and self-doubting man, and supplied the security and assurance Gideon needed to accomplish His purposes.
God’s encounter with Gideon shows that God uses imperfect people to accomplish His will. When God called Gideon as the fifth among the judges of Israel it was again in reaction to Israel’s blatant disobedience. God had withdrawn His protection and turned Israel over to the Midianites. God called Gideon to turn His people back to Him and rescue them from seven years of Midianite oppression. Gideon responded with doubt and requested proof of God’s promise. Each time Gideon asked for a sign God assured Gideon with one. God transformed insecure and self-doubting Gideon into a “mighty warrior” (Judg. 6:12). The story of insecure, self-doubting Gideon is the second in a series about how God may choose to use imperfect people
