Treasuring Christ Introduction

At the top of Mount Sinai, God provided Moses with provisions for the Israelites to dwell with Him. Meanwhile, at the bottom of the mountain, the Israelites turned away from God to make an idol. God hates idolatry because it robs Him of his glory and enslaves His children. To free us from our own idolatries, God sent His only Son Jesus Christ.

Prayer Points
  • Thank God for creating us and for giving us the Scriptures so that we could recognize the shocking idolatry in our own lives. Ask God to help you see sin the way He sees it.
  • Confess the functional idols in your life. Ask God for forgiveness and for the strength to fight these desires by the Holy Spirit.
  • Praise God for the atoning and mediating work of His Son. Ask Him to help you and your church love Jesus more than the gifts that He gives us.
