Treasuring Christ Introduction

In the opening remarks of his letter to the church at Rome, Paul discloses his intentions to finally come to visit the Christians there and begins to lay out an explanation of his own theology. The heart of Paul’s understanding of salvation can be summarized in this phrase: “Justification is by faith alone in Christ alone.”

Middle School: Even though God has revealed Himself to humanity throughout history, we have rejected Him for idols. Because God has revealed Himself, mankind has no excuse to continue in sin.
High School: Paul’s introduction to Romans reminds us that we can join God’s mission to share the Gospel, which saves us from God’s wrath.

Prayer Points
  • Pray that God will ignite a passion for His mission in the hearts of your students.
  • Ask God for wisdom as you explain natural revelation and pray that He will give your students open minds and willing hearts to hear what you have to say.
  • Pray for God to impress upon your students the importance of faith so that they understand they cannot be saved without it.
