Table Talk Questions

What does it mean to have a transformed identity?

Biblical Truth

Our identity is transformed when we exchange our death for life through faith in Christ.

Context

Our transformation through Jesus marks our identification with Him in such a way that the whole life of the Christian is changed. We are identified by faith alone with God in and through His Son. To be crucified with Christ is twofold. First, Jesus gave His life on Calvary that we might have life. This is the most radical indictment of our hopeless situation because of our sin. Second, when we come to a saving knowledge of Christ—not by our works, but by His grace—self-reliance dies. It is not a matter of what we do; rather, it is what Jesus has already done for us.

Learning Goals
  • Explore: Learners will describe the transformed identity that results from a life lived in Christ.
  • Transform: Learners will evaluate how faith in Christ has transformed their lives.
