(5 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will read from Psalm 8 together as an expression of worship to God for being their Creator.
(5 minutes, easy set-up)
Download the “How Majestic!” attachment and provide a copy for each student. Bring a CD/digital media player and Chris Tomlin’s album Arriving (Nashville: Six Step Records, 2004). Also provide pens.
Explain that Psalm 8 expresses the greatness of God and His creation. Distribute copies of the “How Majestic” PDF at this time. Remind students that while God wants us to take delight in what He has created, we should never praise His gifts more than we praise Him. Then divide the class into two groups and lead them in a responsive reading from the handout. Explain that even though they are reading, the psalm is still a prayer to God.
When they finish, distribute pens. Say: Take a few minutes to prayerfully write your own set of “wows” to God for His magnificent creation. Instruct students to write their prayer on the blank lines on their PDF. Using the CD/digital media player, play “Indescribable” from Chris Tomlin’s Arriving album. Give students a few minutes to write and pray as they listen. Then invite them to voice their prayers as they feel led. Close the prayer time with praise to God for His indescribable character.
