Especially for Older Students: Evolutionary Debate

Students will hold a comical debate to illustrate God’s role as Creator.

Lead students to think about the creation of the world by engaging in a comical debate. Divide the group into two teams: One will argue that elephants evolved from a small fish, while the other will argue that elephants devolved from blue whales. Instruct teams to spend three minutes generating their respective arguments. Encourage the use of creativity and illustrations. Then hold the debate, limiting it to five minutes.

After the debate, ask the following questions:

Allow a few minutes for students to discuss their answers to the questions. Explain that there is a lot of debate even among Christians about exactly how the world was created and how things came to exist in their current state. Then say: No one was alive to see God creating the world, but the Bible gives a beautiful account of God’s creation. Let’s take a look at it today.
