Especially for Older Students: Trust or Reject

(10 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will consider how their lives reflect their response to the truth of Christ on a daily basis.
Provide a copy of the “Trust or Reject” activity sheet and a pen for each student.

Learning Goal: Students will verbalize their response to the resurrection of Christ.

Distribute the “Trust or Reject” activity sheets and pens. Explain that there are two columns on the sheet, one describing behavior that accompanies someone who truly follows Jesus and the other describing behavior of someone who rejects Jesus’ lordship. Say: Most of us probably wouldn’t say that we outright reject Jesus, but our lives may paint a different picture. Instruct students to use the line between each description as a continuum that varies between the two extremes on each side. Direct students to spend some time evaluating their own actions and attitudes and to place an X on each line, according to where they fall on the continuum. Assure students that they will not have to share their answers. Allow 2-3 minutes for students to complete the activity.

When students are finished, emphasize that our response to the truth of Christ has consequences on our everyday lives as well as our eternal destinies. Say: When we decide to follow Christ as our Savior, He is our Lord, and He calls us to follow Him fully in every way. Encourage students to consider how their lives reflect their response to Christ and to share with a close friend or mentor any ways that they need to repent and ask Him to help them change. Conclude by praying that God will help students use the knowledge of what Jesus willingly did for them to share His love with others.
