Master Teacher Option: Mimes & Emotions

(10 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will act out emotions based on given circumstances.

Invite a couple of students to volunteer to act out emotions. Tell students that mimes can often be found in parks acting without speaking or making noises—almost like a silent clown. Instruct the rest of the class to guess how the students feel based on their actions. Voice the following circumstances, giving the “mimes” about 30 seconds to act their emotion:

After all circumstances have been mimed and identified, ask: What is the relationship between our responses to news and the way our hearts feel about it? After responses, explain that today, students will explore the relationship between our responses to the truth of Jesus’ resurrection and the condition of our hearts.
