(10 minutes, easy set up)
Explain that we tend to live our lives by certain laws or truths. Say: For example, we know that if we throw something up in the air, it will always come back down, so if we throw it straight up, it might come down and hit us in the head. Ask: What are other truths we know that affect us every day without even thinking about them? (That the earth is round; that if we eat too many sweets at one time, we’ll get sick) After students respond, point out that we have the choice to accept or reject truth every day, and that choice affects how we live. Ask: How would our lives be different if we rejected certain truths pertaining to:
Work through each scenario, encouraging students to describe how rejecting these truths would impact how a person lives and how our culture might look differently. Allow a minute of discussion for each scenario. When each one has been discussed, explain that today we will explore the option we have to accept or reject the truth of Jesus’ resurrection.
