Master Teacher Option: Jesus the Messiah?

(10 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will consider what it means for Jesus to be the Messiah in their lives.
Provide paper and a pen for each student.

Learning Goal: Students will identify ways they can respond to the news that Jesus is the Messiah.

Acknowledge that those who have placed their faith in Christ have believed that He is the Messiah—the only One who could save them from their sins. Ask: How does what we believe about Jesus as the Messiah impact how we respond to Him in our daily lives? Give students a couple of moments to share their thoughts.

Then, explain that you are going to read some statements and students should silently consider if the statements are true in their lives:

Emphasize that when we believe that Jesus is the Messiah, we have the option to trust in Him or to disregard the truth. Say: When we trust in Christ as the Messiah, like Mary, we also make the decision to be His servant, giving all of our lives over to His will and desire. Distribute paper and pens.

Instruct students to write a prayer of confession, admitting the areas of life in which they have been reluctant to obey or to place under His command. After a couple of moments, close the prayer time by asking God to help everyone to respond to His identity as the Messiah with each decision and choice they make.
