Master Teacher Core Study: Caleb the Spy
(15–20 minutes, easy setup)
Learners will study Numbers 14:20-38 to discover Caleb’s faithful trust in God’s promises.
Print one copy of the Master Teacher Outline for your use. Also provide a copy of the Learner Worksheet and a pen for each learner.
Pass out pens and copies of the Learner Worksheet. Use the Master Teacher Outline to teach Numbers 14:20-38. Then lead learners to discuss the following questions:
- Caleb had to wait 40 years to enter the Promised Land even though he obeyed God and remained faithful. What does that tell you about the nature of community?
- How could Caleb remain so faithful in the face of so much opposition?
- What does a life of wholehearted commitment to God look like?
- Consider a time when the spirit of those around you did not honor God. What would it look like for you to have a “different spirit” like Caleb?
