(5 minutes)
Option #1
Supplies Needed: Jordan River resource page, blue watercolor paint, paint brushes, cups of water, crayons
Give each child a paint brush and a copy of the Jordan River resource page (see resources). Place the blue watercolor paint and the cups of water in the center of the table for the children to share. Review the miracle that happened at the Jordan River. Encourage the children to paint the water blue. If time allows, let the children color the rest of the picture with crayons.
Option #2
Supplies Needed: Brown and blue construction paper, scissors, glue sticks, crayons
Teacher Note: As you prepare for today’s lesson, cut the blue construction paper in half. Then make two-inch cuts in the long side of the halved sheets. Curl the cuts toward the middle of the paper to create waves. Each child will need one prepared blue sheet.
Give each child a brown piece of paper, one of the blue wave pages, and a glue stick. Show them how to glue a blue piece of paper onto the brown paper so that three edges are aligned with the curled blue edge in the center of the brown page. Then let the children decorate the rest of the brown paper by coloring pictures of things they might find if the water in a river was suddenly dried up. Discuss the amazing miracle God did at the Jordan River.
