(5-8 minutes, easy set-up)
Learners will try to identify other learners by things they may not know about them.
Provide an index card and pen for each learner.
Distribute index cards and pens to learners. Instruct learners to write one little-known fact about themselves on their cards (such as a nickname, an award, or other unique fact). Collect the cards, and then randomly choose one to read. Ask: Whom do you think wrote this? Reveal the name after three guesses, and then choose another card. Repeat as many as time allows.
Conclude by saying: We have attempted to identify people in our class using personal testimonies found in written statements. Explain that learners will examine the Scripture in today’s lesson to discover the personal testimony offered by the apostle John about the identity of Jesus.
