Especially for Younger Students: Center Stage

(10 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will list the main characters of their favorite movies.

Encourage students to call out their favorite movies. Choose several of the movies students identified and then ask: Who is the main character of that movie? After several main characters have been identified, allow students to debate which is the most important main character they’ve mentioned to the outcome of the movie.

Ask: Who is the main character of the Bible? Allow students to name a few people from the Bible, and then explain that although there are lots of different people who are important in the Bible, its overarching story documents God’s effort to have a relationship with humanity. Say: This big-picture story is continuous throughout the entire Bible and culminates in Jesus. Conclude by saying: Today we’re going to begin a study of Christ, the central figure of our salvation.
