Option #1
Supplies Needed: Golden Calf resource page, crayons (including yellow or gold)
Place crayons on the table for the children to use and give each child a copy of the Golden Calf resource page (see resources). Instruct the children to search the resource page for the five hidden cows. When they find a cow, they should color it yellow or gold. As they work, remind them that the Israelites chose to worship an idol instead of the one true God. Only God is worthy of our worship.
Option #2
Supplies Needed: Modeling clay
Invite the children to make a cow from modeling clay. As they work on their cows, review the lesson and how the Israelites disobeyed God by worshiping an idol. Once the children have finished making their cows, lead them in saying, “We only worship God.” Invite them say the phrase with you as they smash the cow idols.
