Shepherds: Christmas Love

(5-8 minutes, easy set-up)
Learners will describe the depth of God’s love that He promised we would experience through the birth of His Son.
Provide a dry erase board and marker.

On the board, write: Love Shown at the Birth (Mt. 1:21b-23). Ask: How was God’s love demonstrated during the birth of Jesus? Record responses on the board. Then, lead learners to discuss:

How is God’s love shown at Christmas? (God made the gift of His only Son to be with us.)
How does Jesus’ birth indicate His desire to be with us? (He came as a human, willing to share the struggles that we as humans face.)
Does the way you celebrate Christmas bring attention to the depth of Christ’s love for you? Why?

After discussion, lead learners in praying, thanking God for His deep, abiding, and perfect love that He revealed in the birth of His Son, and asking Him to show you and your learners opportunity to share God’s love at Christmas with others.
