Learners will describe the depth of God’s love that He promised in the prophecy of Isaiah
Provide a dry erase board and marker.
On the board, write: Love Shown in Preparation (Isa. 7:14-16). Instruct learners to work with a partner to discuss how God’s love was demonstrated in the prophecy given to Isaiah in this passage.
After several minutes, call for responses and record the responses on the board. Then, ask: In this passage, is there any way that God could have shown His love for us better than He did? (No; everything He did and promised was based on His perfect love for us.) Lead learners to discuss what it means for God’s love to be perfect. Then, ask: How is Jesus’ love perfect as well? (Because Jesus is God, He loves us with the same perfection as our Heavenly Father.) After discussion, encourage learners to pray with their partners as they thank God for His deep, abiding, and perfect love that He revealed in the birth of His Son.
