Fun: With or Without

(5-8 minutes, easy set-up)
Learners will consider what they are willing to be without and what they want to be with.
Provide paper, pens, and a dry erase board and markers.

Divide learners into groups of 4 to 5 and provide each group a sheet of paper and a pen. Instruct learners to write “WITHOUT” on the top of the page and to work together to list the things they are willing to live without. After two minutes, call time and encourage learners to call out some of the things they can live without. List these on the left side of the board.

Then, instruct learners to turn the paper over and to write “WITH” at the top of the page. Instruct learners to work together to list the things they most want to live with in their lives. After two minutes, again call time and encourage learners to call out some of the things they want to live with. List these on the right side of the board.

Point out that the most important thing that we cannot live without is the presence of God in our lives. Share that today’s lesson will allow learners to explore the coming of the Christ-child to be God with us.
