Discoverers: Benefits or Consequences?

(5–8 minutes, easy set-up)
Provide a dry erase board and markers.

On the board, create two columns. Write the following headings at the top of the two columns: Temporary Consequences of Faithfulness and Temporary Benefits of Compromise. Divide learners into two groups and assign one column to each group. Instruct learners to work with a partner to determine possible responses within their assigned column.

After a few minutes, call for responses and list them on the board. Ask: Which is easier to see: the temporary consequences of faithfulness or the temporary benefits of compromise? Why does sin look good to us when we truly want to live in ways that glorify God? How do these consequences impact your worship of God? Remind learners that the most important thing in our lives as Christians should be our faithful worship of God.

Lead learners in prayer, asking God to help them continue to grow in their ability and desire to faithfully worship Him.
