Say: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego demonstrated how important it is to stand firm in our beliefs. Call for a volunteer to read 2 Thessalonians 2:13–17. Ask: What reasons did Paul give for standing firm in the teachings of Christ? (God has chosen, saved, and sanctified us; God allows us to share in Christ’s glory; God has provided the teachings we need to stand firm; God provides the encouragement we need to stand firm.) Ask: What happens when we fail to stand firm for our beliefs? Do we miss an opportunity to give God glory in our lives? What would have happened if Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had failed to take a stand? Point out that, by refusing to bow in worship to the idol, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood firm in their faithful worship of their God.
