(5-8 minutes, easy set-up)
Tape a large sheet of paper to the wall. Provide markers.
As learners arrive, provide markers and instruct them to write their definition for the word compromise on the paper. After several minutes, call time and compare responses to the dictionary definition for compromise: A settlement in which each side gives up something; an adjustment of opposing principles.
Ask: What things tempt you to compromise? What happens when we compromise our beliefs? Say: Today’s lesson will give us the opportunity to consider what may be involved when we do not compromise our beliefs.
