Students will reflect on proclaiming Christ, the foundation of the Church, to the world, by throwing rocks out into the world.
(5-7 minutes, easy set-up)
Provide a stone for each student. Relocate to an outside area where students can safely throw stones at a distance.
Ask a student to read Psalm 118:22-23. Share that Jesus Christ is the rock, the very source and ground of the Church.
Give each student one stone. Ask each student to share one obstacle that keeps him or her from being more effective at making Christ known to others. After each student shares, ask someone to voice a prayer for him or her. Then ask each student-as an act of commitment to proclaim Christ-to throw their rocks as far out into the "world" as they can.
