Fun: Extravagant Love

(5-8 minutes, moderate setup)
Learners will plan marriage proposals in order to discuss extravagant love.

Divide learners into four groups. Explain that each group will plan a “perfect marriage proposal.” Say: Money is no object and you’re proposing to the love of your life. You will present your proposal to the group and, as judge, I will pick a winner.

After a few minutes, allow one person from each group to present the group’s proposal. Pick a winner. Then, ask the following questions:

State that proposals can be an extravagant demonstration of one person’s love for another. Share that in today’s lesson, learners will examine how the birth of Jesus was an extravagant demonstration of God’s love for us.
