Middle School: My Mission

(10 minutes)

“You don’t have to go to heathen lands today to find false gods. America is full of them. Whatever you make most of is your god. Whatever you love more than God is your idol.” – D. L. Moody, D. L. Moody on the Ten Commandments

Why is it so important that we not have anything in our lives that we care about more than God?

What we give the most of our time to is what we really worship. We may say that we worship God and that He is first in our lives, but if something else in our lives is more important than God, it is actually an idol.

Ask yourself this question: “Is there anything in my life that I value more than my relationship with God?”

If you answered “yes,” then this is an idol for you and you need to confess your idolatry to God.

Think back to verse 17 and consider what it means to live by faith. What are some things that you can do in your everyday life that will show your faith in God?

Those who do not believe in God are without excuse. But how many of our friends go day to day without seeing the Gospel lived out? It is our duty to live a life dedicated to serving God as Paul did. We can only do this by making God first in our lives and putting our idols away. By living a life of faith, we can reveal the Gospel message to those around us so that they can have a clearer picture of who God is and what He wants for them: salvation through faith.
