Supplies Needed: Refreshments for Jesus’ birthday party, party plates, cups, napkins
Teacher Note: Additional activities for today’s lesson can be found on the Bible Study Manager page for this lesson. Look for the tab labeled “Extra Resources.”
Teacher Note: Consider providing a special snack for today’s My Mission Activity. Your students will celebrate Jesus by hosting a birthday party for Him. If possible, provide cake, juice, party plates, cups, and napkins.
The students’ mission this week is to spend time thinking about Jesus. Remind your students that Jesus came to be the Savior for everyone. God had promised to send His Son to rescue people from sin, and no one could stop God from keeping His promise. As we think about who Jesus is, what God did to bring Jesus into the world, and what Jesus has done for us, we should begin to want to seek Him, worship Him, and tell others about Him. If any of your students have been thinking about Jesus today and have any questions about what it means to follow Him, encourage them to ask their parents or talk with you or another teacher today.
Celebrate Jesus by having a party in His honor. During the Early Arrival Activity, one group was in charge of the party games. Ask this group to lead the class in the games they chose. Sing or shout out “Happy Birthday” to Jesus and then serve the refreshments to your class. While they are eating, discuss who Jesus is and what the students wish their friends knew about Him.
