Preschool: End-of-Day Activities
(10 minutes or until the parents pick up their children)
Supplies Needed: Children’s books
Teacher Note: These are activities to do while waiting for the parents to pick up their children. Remember that parents will come at different times. If possible, have one teacher at the door saying “good-bye” to the students as they leave. Have another teacher engaging the rest of the class in an activity to keep their attention.
- Play a game of “Hide and Seek the Spies.” Remind the children that Rahab showed her faith in God by agreeing to hide the Israelite spies. Because she hid them, the king of Jericho was not able to find the Israelites and their lives were saved. Choose two students to act as the spies. Instruct them to find hiding places in the room while the rest of the children close their eyes. The remaining students will be the people of Jericho looking for the spies. After a few minutes, announce to the spies that the people of Jericho are coming to look for them. When the two spies have been found, instruct the children to return to the center of the room to play the game again. In today’s Treasure Story, the spies were never found because God led Rahab to hide them from danger.
- Have the children sit in a semi-circle on the floor as they listen to you read them a book.
