Relational: Special Things

Learners will share the important roles that special possessions, activities, and gifts have played in their lives.

Divide learners into groups of three to discuss these questions:

Describe some of the items in your house that are only used for special purposes. Explain why you do not use them everyday.
Describe a time of the day or week that you set aside for a special purpose. Why is this time important to you?
Describe something special that you have given to another person. How did that person’s response to your gift make you feel?

After three or four minutes, call groups together. Ask: What role do special possessions, special times, and special gifts play in our lives? Conclude by explaining that today’s lesson allows us to examine the special relationship God offers to those who will follow Him.
