(6–8 minutes, easy set-up)
Ask: Do you ever find yourself wondering how your life is different because you put doubts and insecurity aside and trusted God? Do you believe you would be at the same place in your life, doing the same things, if you had doubted God?
After receiving several responses, ask: How did Gideon’s life change after his personal encounter with God? What would have happened to Gideon and his people if he had chose to continue in his doubt and insecurity instead of responding to God’s call?
Divide learners into groups of three. Ask: How does your life reflect security and trust in God? Allow time for discussion. Encourage learners that just as God chose Gideon—guilty of doubt and held back by insecurity—God has chosen them, even though they may be flawed.
