Invite learners to listen carefully to the lyrics of the Casting Crowns song “If We Are the Body.” Then ask: What are some ways that members of the Church made visitors feel unwelcome and unwanted? How did the songwriter suggest that Christians share the love of Christ with others? Emphasize the importance of meeting the physical needs of others to earn the right to share the gospel.
Lead learners to identify some of the physical needs that exist in your church and/or community. Suggest that learners determine ways to meet some of those needs on a personal and a corporate level. Investigate the possibility of leading your group to begin or continue a ministry project in your church or community. Encourage learners to participate in both short-term and long-term ministry efforts to open the doors to sharing the gospel with people who might never come to the church or attend worship services.
