(8–10 minutes, easy set-up)
Learners will find a new way to think about and teach the Old Testament.
(8–10 minutes, easy set-up)
Provide a dry erase board and markers.
Tell learners to imagine they are the book publishers of the Bible. They must create a new name for the Old Testament based on public opinion. Ask them for ideas, and write them on the board. (Titles should reflect the attitude that the book is just rules and regulations. It is old and outdated material.)
Remind learners of the Jesus’ attitude toward the Law and the Prophets. Ask them to come up with more appropriate titles. List those on the board. Discuss: How can our attitude reveal what we think about the Old Testament? What in our lives could change how others view the Old Testament for the better?
Close by encouraging learners in their interactions with others. Explain that they have an opportunity to lead others in how they view Scripture. They can reform the way people view the Old Testament with a more Christlike view.
