(5–8 minutes, easy set-up)
Learners will discuss the implications of following Christ.
(5–8 minutes, easy set-up)
Divide the learners into groups of three. Ask groups to discuss: Is following Jesus hard or easy? Why? After five minutes, bring everyone back together to share. Then ask: How could the answer be both? Discuss how it is easy to receive righteousness. Jesus achieved it for us. But after receiving His righteousness, He calls us to live righteously. We can only accomplish this difficult task by the power of Christ in us. Ask: Is it encouraging or discouraging that living out the Old Testament Law does not make us righteous? How can an Old Testament study help us in our walk with Christ? (We will understand God’s character—His holiness.) Close by praying for God to give learners strength to live out the righteousness they have received.
