Relational: Christian Borrowers

(5–10 minutes, easy set-up)
Learners will discover that the core of Christianity is about borrowing someone else’s achievement.

(5–10 minutes, easy set-up)

Divide learners into groups of three or four. Ask groups to discuss: How do you feel about borrowing money? Does your generation feel differently about borrowing than others do? Allow five minutes for discussion. Bring everyone back together and ask groups to share.

After all have shared, discuss: Is it ever right to live off someone else’s accomplishments? Explain that we all want to give something in exchange for someone’s help. But it’s a problem when we apply that to our faith. Say: We read the Old Testament and think we can accomplish the Law. But according to Christ, we can only rely on His accomplishment.
