Download the “Character” activity. Print one copy of the first page on white paper. Print two copies of the second page on colored paper. (Make additional copies as needed.) Cut the pages apart as described and place in two stacks. Also provide tape.

State that we often form stereotypical ideas of the traits that people possess. Explain that learners will identify the traits that they typically ascribe to a variety of people. Give each learner a “Character” card. Spread the “Trait” cards on a table, then instruct learners to choose five of those cards and tape them along the bottom of the “Character” card. Ask: Why are these traits so easily connected with these people?

Conclude the activity by explaining that Jesus wants His followers to be easy to spot by their character traits––traits that are described in today’s Scripture passage.
