Especially for Older Students: The Information Age

(10 minutes, easy set-up)
Students will consider the vast amount of knowledge available to them.

(10 minutes, easy set-up)
Provide paper, pen, dry erase board, and dry erase marker.

Distribute paper and a pen to students. Invite them to list their favorite websites, followed by the amount of time they think they spend on those websites each day. After two minutes, allow volunteers to share their answers.

Ask: How many of you have smartphones? How many of you use your smartphones to get on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google? What kind of information are you looking for when you use these sites?

Share that one in every five people in the world owns a smartphone. Ask: What are some benefits of having all this information readily available? (Be sure benefits include the unlimited access to knowledge and information.) Allow for answers, then explain that our smart phones can also do harm because they often distract us from the people around us.

Say: God knows it all; He’s seen it all; and He has power over everything. Explain that today's lesson reminds us that God’s love for us is displayed through His power, presence, and knowledge.
