Learning Goal: Students will examine the source of hope in their life.

Direct students’ attention to page 10 of the student book. Say: In today’s lesson, Paul prayed that the eyes of believers would be opened to the real hope of being called into an eternal relationship with God, the amazing fact that God sees His people as a valuable treasure that He purchased with the death of Jesus, and the life-changing power of the gospel. Explain that now students will have a few minutes to reflect on these incredible truths. Instruct students to write down or draw at least one answer to both of the questions in the space provided. Allow a few minutes before prompting students to look at their two lists. Say: In the magnifying glass, describe how you now see the world while knowing that many people have never experienced the things in your lists. Allow a few more minutes. If time allows, ask if anyone would like to share something they have learned or a new way of seeing the world’s need for the hope of the gospel.
