Preview the “Rooted Introduction” on page 2 of the Rootedstudent book OR download the “RootedIntroduction” activity sheet.
Ask: Do you believe that the world can be changed? Why or why not? Allow brief discussion, pointing out that social justice charities are popping up everywhere as people recognize that the world has desperate needs. Then explain: Rooted will dig in to the biblical promise of God’s incredible plan to transform our lives and the entire world.
Next, read the “Rooted Introduction” on page 2 of the student book. Then encourage students to open themselves up to what God wants to do in and through their lives. Remind students that recognizing the need for change is not enough and that the same is true of human efforts at solving surface issues—we have to get beyond the surface to a real solution. Say: Your generation overwhelmingly believes that a difference can be made in the world. If our lives are going to be changed, and if the world is going to be changed, then we have to go deeper into God’s plan. We have to wrap our hearts, minds, and lives around this promise of being oaks of righteousness planted to glorify God among the nations.
