Younger Student Option: Fire Drill

(5-10 minutes)
Students will use sticky notes to consider what they value most and why.

(5-10 minutes)
Provide sticky notes and large markers to each student.

Ask students to imagine a house fire. Now, ask them to use the sticky notes and markers to record the names of the items they would rescue from their houses. Remind them that space is limited, due to the large marker and small piece of paper, so they need to think carefully. Say: There is no right or wrong answer.

After the students are finished writing, allow a few volunteers to share what they decided to save and why. Encourage them to explain why each item is personally significant. Say: Different things are valuable to people for all kinds of reasons. God has blessed everyone with unique experiences and possessions. Today, we’ll begin to look at life’s ultimate treasure – One that we can always depend on and enjoy for the rest of our lives and for all of eternity.
